All you need to know about ProVista St. Augustine SOD

At SOD DEPOT OF TAMPA BAY, we proudly offer ProVista® St. Augustine, one of the most innovative and low-maintenance turfgrass solutions available today. Developed by Scotts® and engineered for performance, ProVista is an ideal choice for residential lawns, commercial landscapes, parks, and common areas where a deep green color, uniform growth, and reduced maintenance are top priorities.

ProVista features a lush, deep green color and a dense, upright growth habit that delivers a premium, manicured appearance. It offers exceptional shade tolerance, thriving in areas with as little as 4 hours of sunlight per day, making it an excellent option for landscapes with partial shade. Its genetically enhanced slow vertical growth means homeowners can cut mowing frequency by up to 50% compared to traditional St. Augustine varieties—ideal for those seeking a beautiful lawn with less time and effort.

ProVista grows best when planted from late spring through early summer, allowing its robust root system to establish before the cooler months. Once rooted, this turf forms a thick, carpet-like surface through spreading stolons, filling in gaps quickly and effectively suppressing weed growth. Its dense canopy not only crowds out weeds naturally, but ProVista is also engineered to be glyphosate-tolerant, meaning selective weed control is easier and safer than ever.

With a coarse texture and resilient structure, ProVista stands up well to moderate foot traffic and recovers quickly from wear, making it suitable for family yards, pet areas, and active outdoor spaces. It should be maintained at a mowing height of 3 to 4 inches to promote a thick, healthy lawn with rich color and stress resistance. ProVista also tolerates Florida’s humid climate, handling both heat and periods of drought once fully established.

Installation is simple, with roots typically beginning to establish within 2 to 3 weeks. During this period, consistent watering is important. Once mature, ProVista requires less water and fewer inputs than most other St. Augustine varieties, making it a sustainable and cost-effective long-term solution.

In short, ProVista St. Augustine combines luxury appearance with modern turf technology, offering a premium, low-maintenance lawn solution that fits perfectly with Florida’s climate and lifestyle. Whether you’re a homeowner looking for hassle-free curb appeal or a landscaper managing multiple properties, ProVista delivers outstanding performance with minimal upkeep.
