Welcome to Cura Sod Corporation! Here’s a little about us: we’ve been a family-owned and operated business for three generations now. That makes us one of the oldest and most experienced Florida sod growers in the Tampa area. We service Hillsborough, Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties.
We specialize in working with developers on new home construction, but we also happily service residential, golf courses, athletic fields, commercial sites, and development areas as well. Whatever your Florida sod needs are, we’d be delighted to help!
About Our Florida Sod Products:
Generally speaking, we install Bahia, St. Augustine and Zoysia sod.
- Bahia Sod: What we like best about Bahia grass is that it’s drought resistant turf. We recommend using this type of sod in sunny areas, along highways and on lawns. It goes dormant in the winter, so it requires less mowing. It’s perfectly suited for the humidity in Florida, but doesn’t like too much fertilizing or excess watering — making it the perfect “no maintenance” lawn product. Who doesn’t like that?
- Bermuda Sod: Many experts believe Bermuda sod is the best for warm, sunny climates because it germinates quickly and easily, creating a dense carpet-like turf. It has excellent heat and drought resistance properties. The grass goes dormant in the winter, meaning less maintenance for you. Unlike Bahia sod, the Bermuda sod likes a little bit of fertilizer and grows quickly through an underground system.
- St. Augustine Floratam Sod: Hands down, the most popular type of lawn in Hillsborough and Pinellas County is the St. Augustine sod. This is a good grass for both shade and open sun. It’s not recommended for sports fields or lawns with dogs because it can be delicate to heavy stomping, but it’s proven to be a beautiful, weed-resistant grass that grows into a lush, thick carpet over the course of just one season. Forget patchy lawns with this sod!
- St. Augustine Seville-Classic Sod: Seville is blue-green in color with excellent color retention. It tolerates salt, shade and drought well. Its long leaf blade gives it a unique appearance preferred by many homeowners. The classic is more cold tolerant, performs well in the shade, is a pretty medium to dark green and is very adaptable.
